5 South African Players to Watch in India Tour 2025
- Dewald Brevis – Batter
Why he stands out: He combines genuine 360° hitting power with notable red-ball strides (Test debut fifty; strong domestic run-glut).
He can flip games in 20-ball bursts and is visibly improving against spin.
India fit: Excellent at lofted straight hits; punishes pace-on at the death – a big plus in subcontinent white-ball setups.
Risk flags: Shot-selection early in his innings can be erratic; higher variance when converting in Tests.

Vegas11 note: Ideal T20I captain/vice-captain pick in batting-friendly venues, good punt in ODIs when conditions favour his style.
Player Resource Info:
2. Marco Jansen – Bowling Allrounder
Why he stands out: Standing at about 6′8″ with left-arm pace, he generates bounce and genuine wicket bursts.
Plus useful lower-order runs. His ceiling is still rising.
India fit: Offers new-ball value plus reverse-swing windows; his angle is especially tricky for right-handers, which is helpful in sub-continent conditions
.
Risk flags: Workload and consistency have been a patch sometimes; some dips in recent outings.

Vegas11 note: Good floor in Tests (wickets + batting points); big-strike bowling punter in ODIs/T20s
Player Resource Info:
3. Tristan Stubbs – Wicket-keeper / Batsman
Why he stands out: He’s an elite ball-striker with proven finishing pedigree in franchise leagues; his keeping adds flexibility.
India fit: Strong against pace, effective at hitting straights; if he’s promoted up the order he can turn a T20 chase on its head.
Risk flags: Role can float (batting slot inconsistent); limited Test sample so far.

Vegas11 note: High-ceiling T20 captain pick on small boundaries, an ODI punt if the finishing role is confirmed.
Player Rescource Info:
4. Ryan Rickelton – Wicket-keeper / Batsman
Why he stands out: A red-ball run machine with centuries (including double-ton credentials) and his white-ball game is improving steadily.
India fit: Compact technique vs spin, patience for long innings; capable of locking in top-order stability.
Risk flags: White-ball strike-rate occasionally lags; selection squeeze because of multiple keepers.

Vegas11 note: In Tests he’s a safe vice-captain pick on slower decks (volume runs).
Player Resource Info:
5. Tony de Zorzi – Batter
Why he stands out: Left-handed opener who recently scored an ODI hundred vs India; he has the temperament for longer knocks.
India fit: Left-hand bat gives specific match-up value; when he opens he can tire bowling attacks and open scoring windows for the middle order.
Risk flags: Conversion from starts to big scores remains a question; handling high-quality spin early in innings is still a test.

Vegas11 note: In Tests he’s a steady pick; in ODIs an anchor punt when his role is clear.
